How many movies have followed this premise: A group of twenty-somethings want to party in an abandoned building and some slasher who somehow existed on his own for years in the place kills them all one-by-one. The correct answer can only be determined by researching the sales of mini-DV prosumer cameras, as I’ve yet to find an end by actually watching these movies.

Now I’m not knocking movies shot on mini-DV, as for the better part of the 2000’s is was a good choice for people using regular cameras. Although I’m not sure how they end up on DVD and in rental stores, and why my mini-DV movies haven’t gotten anything more than random commentators telling me to ‘pls kill myself k thx’.

However the formula just rarely has any variation. Kids want to party. Kids have access to an old building so they can do illegal things like play with a Ouija board and download warez or something. Then one wanders off to pee and dies, followed by the rest while you wait to see who the lone survivor is. Actually this is a lot like Death Tunnel except with a slasher instead of ghosts. Although Death Tunnel tried to form a more complex reason why annoying people have to be in the building, while Tower of Blood just sort of goes there. And you have to watch the goofy guy dance while raising the roof and pointing to his inseam.

Really not a whole lot happens. I can’t say I hated the movie, because it would have some negative points to it. It didn’t really become boring, despite looking at the timeline and realizing it was half over and they had just arrived at the building to play Ouija. The Ouija by the way doesn’t have anything to do with the plot since instead of raising a spirit, the slasher that was going to come anyway does the chopping. I really didn’t see the point of making this since it’s so matter of fact. They show up, then die. And there’s a cajun women at the end who may or may not be involved with voodoo much like a zombie movie. Then the movie just sort of ends when the slasher slips on the floor.

I wish I had more to say, but it was so generic, there isn’t much left. I didn’t hate it outright, and I purposely watch these, so I can’t say I was cheated. Well cheated out of a terrible movie perhaps, but still.
