Terror at Blood Fart Lake [2009] - A group of people die amidst poo jokes.

I was pretty sure I was going to hate this going in, but I found it wasn't all that bad. Originally I was going to compare Rise of the Scarecrows and this movie, but then I had to actually watch both, so things might be altered a bit.

However the core point still stands as 'Scarecrows' used its non-budget to make a decent movie, while 'Lake' just ended up farting a lot. I guess that fits the name, but still, it's not really funny. Many things went so wrong here. You expect the acting to be pretty bad, but each person plays up their current stereotype to the point of absurdity. continue reading...

Rise of the Scarecrows [2009] - Scarecrows come back for revenge.

You know the commercials with the people who only have a dollar and whine endlessly about how they can't afford anything. Then someone comes along and say 'ha ha, you can buy a sandwich or a gumdrop', or something like that. Well if I came along, I'd say 'you can produce this movie', and still have enough left over for said gumdrop.

Now I do mean that in the most loving way I can. After watching this, Terror of Blood Fart Lake, and 667: Neighbor of the Beast, I have to say that Scarecrows... was the only one to be enjoyable, despite all having the same production values. 'Lake' will be reviewed; '667' wasn't worth the wear and tear of writing 1's and 0's to my jumpdrive in order to watch it later. continue reading...

Cemetary High [1989] - Girls take revenge on the men who mistreat them. Then go for the rest.

Digging into this movie's history a bit shows that it wasn't supposed to be this ridiculous. Starting out as a dark comedy, Charles Band apparently thought it was too good for the Full Moon label, so revisions were made to slaughter any semblance of sanity.

The story still apparently follows the same plot, but decides to break the forth wall every few minutes and verbally announce key points. Case in point, the narrator is killed early on for the crime of being male, and as his microphone rolls, the crew of murderous girls detail the backstory for the benefit of the coroner who happens to be listening. continue reading...

The Story of Srebrenica - A baby's house is blown away but a wolf saves her.

The Story of Srebrenica tries to be a heartwarming children's tale, but ultimately becomes a disturbing tale of parental loss and eating rats.

Srebrenica was loved by her parents who named her after a place that just sounded nice. They gave her a home and a blanket; what else could a parent do better. But one day a storm came a blowin' and they ran out to nail down the floorboard or something, leaving little Srebrenica on the floor to fend for herself. I assume they thought she would be safe, but no, a tornado rages outside the window. continue reading...

Mondo Cannibale [2003] - A eurotrash veteran gives us one last cannibal movie before he dies.

Cannibal Holocaust. Once an underground nasty, it's almost been mainstreamed during the DVD revolution. For a while I suppose it still ducked the public eye since only one distributor was selling it, but now you can find it at FYE. A disappointing situation if I ever saw one. So as with anything remotely popular, remakes are bound to happen. Even the 1930's Freaks was redone lately. So despite an official version of the greatest Cannibal movie of all time coming out 'sometime', a little digging will reveal that two were already produced sort of redoing the movie. continue reading...
